The U16s game was much closer with the Saints managing to scrape home for a one-point win over the Toowoomba Tigers after a nail-biting last quarter for fans.
The young Saints won the first quarter easily, 4.1 (25) to 1.0 (6).
But the Tigers roared into action in the second, kicking three goals to the South Burnett’s one.
At half-time, the Saints were still ahead but the margin was much closer, 5.4 (34) to 4.4 (28).
At the end of the third-quarter, South Burnett’s lead had extended to 12 points but they were about to face a strong sprint to the full-time whistle by Toowoomba.
In the last quarter, the Tigers kicked three majors and four one-pointers while managing to hold out the Saints’ attack.
South Burnett’s solitary one point in the quarter was just enough to scrape home with a win: 7.12 (54) to 7.11 (53).
Saints’ goals were kicked by Keegan Wright (3), Taj Jones (2), Matt Patroni and Amos Hicks.
