The centre island in Drayton Street is now much more narrow, so traffic cannot stop in the middle

Temporary changes at the Drayton / Fitzroy street intersection are confusing some drivers who have been used to stopping in the middle of the road when turning.

The changes in Drayton Street means it is no longer possible for drivers crossing Drayton Street to stop in the centre of the intersection.

South Burnett Regional Council says the narrowed island and angle parking has moved through traffic towards the centre of the road and this does not allow traffic to stop mid-crossing.

Council asks that all drivers ensure that when crossing this intersection that traffic is clear both ways before proceeding.

The roundabout that will be installed will alleviate this issue and will complete the Drayton Street improvements.
