FLASHBACK:  Peter Ballinger, from Brooklands, at the opening of the Nanango Men’s Shed in 2014

May 4, 2015

The Nanango Men’s Shed will buy some more power tools thanks to a $1400 Federal Government grant.

“The Nanango Men’s Shed has only been in operation for about 12 months but boasts a great support base with more than 30 men involved,” Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott said today.

“The Nanango group freely gives their time and expertise to help the community and I understand some of its larger projects involved building 200 chook cages for the Show Society and wooden lecterns for the high school.

“Men’s Sheds play an important role in our community as they provide practical and social benefits for members and the broader community.

“Research suggests many men from the bush don’t feel comfortable using structured health and support services, so a Men’s Shed helps them connect with local services to improve mental and general health, as well as being involved in the community.”

The grant was made under the National Shed Development Program.
