Police have confirmed the deaths of four people after an incident on Beerburrum Road, Caboolture, on Friday evening.
About 5:30pm, police received information that a vehicle had been swept away by flood waters.
Investigations revealed two separate vehicles had actually been swept away by flood waters during the same incident.
A man believed to be in his 70s, a woman in her 30s and an eight-year-old boy – all in the first vehicle – died at the scene.
The second vehicle contained three people. Two passengers, a 21-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy, managed to escape the vehicle.
The driver, a 49-year-old man, was initially unable to be located and police and emergency services searched overnight for him.
His body was located about 6:00am on Saturday.
Police investigations are continuing.
Caboolture received 360mm of rain between 9:00am Friday and 9:00am Saturday.

As at 7:00am on Saturday, swift water rescue crews and SES flood boat operators in south-east Queensland had been called to assist with more than 30 rescues of people in vehicles stranded in flood water.
