The inaugural Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Show’n’Shine was so good, it looks it will become an annual event.
Lions club member Brian Callaghan said all the profits – which should be $1500 plus – will go back into the community.
He said 56 cars and 22 swap sites registered after the events was promoted on car club websites.
“We are over the moon with the response,” he said.
“Everyone has asked us to make it an annual event as there is no other small country event on in April.”
The car show was a great success, despite a rain storm which cut proceedings a bit short.
However, the rock’n’roll dance in the evening – which followed the rain and also clashed with other events – did not fare as well.
“It was very disappointing,” Brian said. “Only a dozen locals turned up but the 38 caravanners there probably enjoyed the music.”
Brian said they would not be giving up on the rock’n’roll dance … it would be going ahead again next year, too.
