The South Burnett Regional Council, in conjunction with Biosecurity Queensland, is conducting another round of wild dog and pig baiting in the region next month, Natural Resources Portfolio chair Cr Kathy Duff told today’s Council meeting.
Baiting stations will be set up at Wondai, Nanango, Murgon, Cloyna, Kingaroy and Kumbia.
All participants must register their intention to conduct baiting and ensure all notification and administrative requirements are met prior to attending the baiting station.
To register, contact Stock Route & Pest Officer Kerry Hayes on (07) 4189-9312 before Friday, May 8.
Owners of domestic and working dogs should restrain and/or muzzle their dogs during the baiting program to minimise the risk of dogs wandering and coming into contact with poison baits.
Landholders have a legislative responsibility to control declared pests on their land.
Cr Duff also reported that registrations for a Council-led trapping program recently closed and the project will comence on April 27.
“A total of 66 landholders have registered, which is an extremely good response,” she said.
