The Mundubbera Tigers, playing before a home crowd, took home the money at the annual “Clash For Cash” pre-season rugby league carnival on Saturday.

Wondai put on a fine display, defeating both Cherbourg and Eidsvold to earn a spot in the final against the Tigers.

But in the end, Mundubbera ran away with it, keeping Wondai scoreless, 20-0, after a big day of football.

The Plate match saw a clash between the Cherbourg Hornets and Kingaroy Red Ants, with the Hornets drawing away in the second half to win 20-8 after being ahead 8-4 at half-time.

  • Game 1: Mundubbera 20 – Murgon 4
  • Game 2: Wondai 16 – Cherbourg 8
  • Game 3: Kingaroy 20 – Murgon 4
  • Game 4: Wondai 24 –  Eidsvold 4
  • Game 5: Mundubbera 8 – Kingaroy 4
  • Game 6: Cherbourg 28 – Eidsvold 0

Three senior trial games will be played at Fred Kassulke Oval in Nanango on Saturday (April 18) to select players to represent the Wide Bay inland side at the 47th Battalion Carnival at Roma on May 2-3.

Proposed timetable for Saturday’s matches:

  • 4:00pm –  South Burnett v Central Burnett
  • 5:30pm –  Northern Districts v Central Burnett
  • 7:00pm – South Burnett v Northern Districts
  • 9:00pm – The announcement of the Wide Bay Northern Rangers team
