Work will begin next week to rebuild Markwell Street, Kingaroy, between Pound Street and Kingaroy Street.
Roads portfolio holder Cr Damien Tessmann said the project was scheduled to begin on April 7.
It would include the replacement of kerbs, the installation of drainage and a bitumen re-seal plus signs and line marking.
“It is expected that the work will take approximately eight weeks,” Cr Tessmann said.
The work will be carried out in two stages – the south side of the street first, and then the north side.
Cr Tessmann said pedestrian access to local businesses should not be affected but there would be limited vehicle access and parking during the reconstruction work.
While the project in underway, Markwell Street will have one-way traffic only. The traffic flow direction will be indicated by signs.
Also at times it may be required to have traffic flows under the direction of traffic controllers with minor delays.
Markwell Street may even be closed for short periods
“Residents or business owners who have concerns during the construction period should contact the on-site supervisor,” Cr Tessmann said.
