The funeral of former Gympie and Kilkivan mayor Ron Dyne will be held on Monday in Gympie.
Mr Dyne, 69, died on February 20, just seven months after being diagnosed with cancer.
The funeral service will be held in the Gympie Showground Pavilion, Exhibition Road, Gympie from 11:00am on Monday.
Relatives and friends of Ron, his wife Dulcie and family have been invited to attend.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Little Haven Palliative Care in Gympie.
The former Kilkivan mayor was elected to lead the amalgamated Gympie Regional Council in 2008.
He served as mayor of Kilkivan Shire for four years and spent another four years prior to that as a local councillor.
The former soldier was a long-serving member of the Royal Corps of Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

I covered several council meetings at Kilkivan for the South Burnett Times during most of the period Ron Dyne was councillor and then during his promotion to mayor. Not one meeting went by that there was not debate on positive projects for Kilkivan and Goomeri.
On any controversial matters Ron always allowed equal time and if there was some items that the council could not approve, Ron was in a situation where he would outline the matter to concerned ratepayers.
On a number of occasions when instructed by John Cameron (the Times editor of the day) Ron would always be available after hours and sometimes up to 10pm to give positive comments.
It is indeed a sad occasion on his passing and his outstanding achievements as mayor will be remembered for many years to come.
