Gallipoli will be coming to Kingaroy next month … a live stage play that will catapult the audience back to Anzac Cove and the trenches of Lone Pine.
The production tells the story of a Digger who is not only fighting the Turks, but also the military establishment.
The South Burnett Regional Council has secured funding through the Queensland Anzac Centenary Grants Program to bring Jally Entertainment’s production of “Gallipoli – A Manual of Trench Warfare” to Kingaroy for two special performances on March 10
“Being able to bring this performance to the South Burnett, in this the centennial year of the landing at Gallipoli, is rewarding,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.
“This production, a national production which travels around Australia, will significantly add to the events leading up to Anzac Day this year.”
There will be a free day session for South Burnett Year 9 students.
“Teachers will have information packs provided which will include in-class worksheets and, of course, the students will get to experience scenes and events artistically portrayed from such a momentous historical event,” portfolio holder Cr Ros Heit said.
The evening session is open to the general public.
Tickets can be purchased from South Burnett Regional Council service centres or Thorps Jewellers in Kingaroy Shoppingworld.
Doors open at 6:45pm for a 7:30pm start. Cost is $30 (adult) or $25 (concession).
