Rugby league fans don’t have long to wait before their teams are back in action around the South Burnett.
The traditional “Clash For Cash” at Mundubbera on March 7 heralds the start of a pre-season comp which will see seniors games played at Nanango and Cherbourg.
On April 18, Nanango will host the trials to select the 47th Battalion side, with a round-robin competition between Central Burnett, Northern Districts and the South Burnett.
The 47th Battalion matches will be played at Roma on May 2.
The Junior League competition will get underway on April 25 with the A Grade competition swinging into gear on May 9.
With the decision of Blackbutt-Yarraman not to field a team this year, every senior team will have a bye once a week.
And the return to a mainly South Burnett-only competition means the four senior teams will each play each other three times throughout the competition, with the exception of Cherbourg / Wondai and Kingaroy / Murgon who will only face each other twice.
The Murgon Mustangs will host Grand Final day on September 5.

The Kingaroy Red Ants hope to host three local girls’ teams in the Sunshine Coast competition.
The club hopes there will be enough numbers for an U14, U16 and U18 team.
Girls interested in playing should attend training at TJ O’Neill Oval on Wednesday nights at 5:00pm.
The club is also looking for coaches, managers and first aid officers for the three proposed teams.
