As chairman of the South Burnett Disaster Management Committee, Mayor Wayne Kratzmann updated local residents on Friday about the latest information about how Cyclone Marcia is expected to affect the South Burnett.
At 11:00am, most of the strong winds were expected to miss the area however the South Burnett should get some useful rain today or tomorrow.
However, there have been some reports already of tree branches and other debris on roads, so drivers have been urged to slow down and take care.
The message from the Disaster Committee is to avoid unnecessary travel.

Tropical Cyclone Marcia crossed the Queensland coast near Shoalwater Bay as a Category 5 cyclone about 8:00am but has now been downgraded to Category 4.
Gales are occurring about coastal and island communities between Sarina and Double Island Point, and are expected to extend inland to Moura, Biloela, Monto and Mundubbera today.
TC Marcia has sustained winds near the centre of 175km/h per hour with wind gusts to 250km/h.
