February 18, 2015

Work is progressing in Kingaroy’s Memorial Park to prepare the Rotunda area for this year’s Centenary of Gallipoli commemoration on April 25.

A wall running down the side of the swimming pool has been decorated with a mural depicting different aspects of Australian war service over the years, ranging from helicopters and fighter jets to the light horse.

New paving leading up to the Rotunda has also been laid in the park.

Work has also begun on the plinth for the marble statue of a World War I digger which will be erected at the foot of the catafalque and commemoration walls.

Security cameras are also being installed in the area by the South Burnett Regional Council as part of the upgrade.
