UnitingCare has thanked shoppers for their generosity after their annual Christmas appeal in Kingaroy raised $250 in vouchers and more than 340 gifts.
Co-ordinator Susan Mortimer said it was a brilliant result, particularly as so many local residents were doing it tough themselves at the moment.
She said most of the toys donated were in the $5 to $10 range.
“It’s great. It meant that a child around here was given something to unwrap on Christmas morning,” Mrs Mortimer said.
The “Giving Box” appeal was run in conjunction with the Target Country store in Kingaroy.
It’s the fifth year that it has been held in Kingaroy and all the donations are distributed in the local area.
Mrs Mortimer and Uniting Church minister Rev David Ferguson presented Target Country store manager Amanda Parnell with a thank you certificate and a bunch of flowers this week to thank her and her staff for their help.
Over the past 23 years, more than 1.8 million Christmas gifts have been donated at Target stores across Australia.
