Labor candidate Liz Hollens-Riley launched her campaign for the seat of Nanango on Saturday at an invitation-only event held at her Benarkin home.
Queensland Senator Claire Moore officiated, congratulating Ms Hollens-Riley on the success of her grassroots campaign and emphasising the importance of getting the Labor message out about jobs, health and asset sales.
“This electorate was going to be a hard fight with the LNP having a huge margin, but with six candidates on the ballot paper and a possible record turnout of voters, despite the new rules for voter identification, it’s going to be one to watch on election night,” Senator Moore said.
Ms Hollens-Riley said she was proud to be the Labor candidate.
“It’s time to stand up and be counted,” she said.
“As a strong voice for our local community, I will stand up for fairness and better services for our region. I am committed to action and to making a difference.
“Queensland Labor is continuing to grow in our region, a clear indication people are looking for someone to stand up against Campbell Newman and his unfair cuts to our jobs and services.”
