UPDATE 9:30pm
A 40-year-old man has been taken into custody this evening following the peaceful resolution of an incident in Haly Street, Kingaroy.
A police spokesman said the man walked quietly from a house at 9:00pm and surrendered to police.
The stand-off tied up police resources for more than 23 hours and also disrupted traffic in a mainly residential part of town.
During the day, specialist police negotiators attended the scene. A fire crew was also on stand-by and Ergon Energy crews also attended. SES volunteers controlled access to the area.
Earlier today:
Police and the SES have part of Haly Street, Kingaroy, in lockdown due to an ongoing incident that began in a house on the southern side of the road about 10:00pm last night.
A man has been making threats but is believed to be alone in the building.
An emergency situation was declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act at 3:40am. The block within First Avenue, Thorn Street, Haly Street and Alford Street is the declared area.
Specialist police and negotiators are on the scene.
Haly Street is blocked to all traffic and pedestrians between West Street and east of First Ave.
Motorists should avoid the area.
