Palmer United Party federal leader Clive Palmer announced today that well-known Kingaroy chef Jason Ford will be the PUP party’s candidate for Nanango at the January 31 State election.
The local businessman is a former Kingaroy Australia Day Citizen of the Year and a Rotary Club “Pride of Workmanship” award winner.
He currently works for TAFE Queensland South West as a Commercial Cookery lecturer and also writes food columns for local media.
“I’m really looking forward to representing the electorate of Nanango and working with the community to tackle local issues,” Mr Ford said.
“I consider the LNP’s sale and long-term lease of the State’s assets detrimental to the future of Queensland.
“The Newman Government’s widespread privatisation of essential services will only lead to increased costs and poor quality of services, particularly for those in regional and rural Queensland.
“The government’s fire sale will ultimately end in an epic fail for all Queenslanders and we as a community must work together to strengthen our nation’s democracy and stand up for what is right and fair.”
Mr Palmer said Mr Ford was a hard-working, passionate and driven member of the
community and an asset to the Palmer United Party.
