A 20-year-old man has been fined $1062 and has automatically lost his driver’s licence for six months after he was allegedly caught speeding across the Wivenhoe Dam wall.
The speed limit on the Brisbane Valley Highway drops from 100km/h to 80km/h as the highway crosses the dam.
However, Kingaroy Police patrolling the highway say they caught the driver doing 148km/h, 68km/h above the speed limit.
Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the vehicle passed a patrol car travelling in the opposite direction on the dam wall last night.
He said the driver, from Brisbane, had only recently completed his P-plate period

Complaints that a person travelling in a vehicle along Youngman Street, Kingaroy, was waving a knife and yelling abuse at another driver prompted police to track down and search a vehicle on Thursday afternoon.
Police allegedly found a large bayonet in a pouch on the rear seat of a car being driven by two young local men.
The bayonet has been seized and investigations are continuing.

An 18-year-old woman was injured when her vehicle failed to take a corner on the Memerambi-Gordonbrook Road, just past Wilsons Road, at Gordonbrook, about 11:30am on Sunday.
An ambulance was called and she was taken to Kingaroy Hospital.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.

Police were called to a sewerage pipe construction site in River Road, Kingaroy at 6:30pm on Saturday after local residents notified them that children appeared to be playing there.
Snr Sgt Frank said three youths were reported to be climbing over equipment at the site.
When police arrived they found fire extinguishers had been discharged.
“This caused a considerable mess,” Snr Sgt Frank said.
Snr Sgt Frank said it was likely that action would be taken under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Police who were called to a disturbance in Queen Street, Kingaroy, at 6:30pm on Friday allegedly found a heavily intoxicated man and woman involved in a heated argument in the front yard.
When police tried to determine the cause of the argument, the man allegedly became aggressive. The man was handcuffed and taken to the Kingaroy watchhouse.
Snr Sgt Frank said one of the attending officers suffered a minor injury to their hand during the incident.

Police say a driver intercepted in Kingaroy Street at 11:00pm on Friday was disqualified and had a BAC of 0.191, almost four times over the legal limit.
The driver’s vehicle has been forfeited for seven days through confiscation of the car’s licence plates and the driver has been charged.

She has been charged with a mid-range drink-driving offence.

Kingaroy police patrolling the highway between Nanango and Kingaroy between 4:30am and 5:30am on Saturday detected three vehicles travelling faster than the 100km/h speed limit.
Snr Sgt Frank said this was a particularly dangerous given the possibility of wildlife crossing the road at that time of day and the poor visibility due to early morning glare.
All three motorists were issued with speeding tickets.
“Anyone thinking of speeding should be aware that police are out on the road at all hours of the day and night,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

Police who intercepted a vehicle in Alford Street, Kingaroy at 12:30pm on Saturday say that not only was it unregistered and uninsured, but it was also being driven with cancelled number plates by an unlicensed driver.
The driver, from Kingaroy, has been issued with a notice to appear in court to face a string of traffic charges.
Another motorist has been charged with unlicensed driving after a vehicle was intercepted in Moonya Street, Kingaroy, at 3:00am on Monday. The 21-year-old Kingaroy man will now face court.

On Thursday, police executed a search warrant on a home and a caravan in Arthur Street, Kingaroy.
Police allege that while searching a caravan they found a number of drug implements.
The following day a 41-year-old man who lived in the caravan presented himself at Kingaroy Police Station.
He has been issued with a notice to appear in court to face drug-related offences.

On Thursday, a 20-year-old man who was wanted after a search warrant was executed on another house presented himself to Kingaroy Police.
The search allegedly located methamphetamine.

On Friday, Kingaroy police executed a search warrant on a house in Thomas Street, Blackbutt, after a break-in at Kilcoy State School.
They located two 16 year old youths – a boy and a girl – who will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
