Holly Ferling sends down a rocket for the Bulls Masters in Kingaroy in November

December 14, 2014

Former Kingaroy RSL bowler Holly Ferling, fully recovered from her back injury, has helped the Queensland Fire secure back-to-back wins against the Southern Scorpions in a rare T20 double header played at Allan Border Field in Brisbane today.

In the first game, the South Australians were held to a total of just 68 after Ferling took 1/6 from four overs. Her Southern Stars teammate Jessica Jonassen did even better, with 2/5 off her four overs.

The Fire quickly overtook the target, finishing with 3/69 off 10.3 overs.

In the second game, the Fire recovered from being 4/20 at one stage to successfully defend their eventual total of 9/120.

The two wins follow the Fire’s seven-wicket win over the Scorpions on Saturday, during which Ferling took 3/23 and Jonassen 4/19.

The double matches on Sunday were caused after Friday’s scheduled game was postponed.

Former Kingaroy RSL batsman Anthony Eden, who moved to Moura earlier this year, has secured his spot in the 2014-15 Queensland Country side after big batting performances for Central Queensland and North Queensland.

Eden, who now plays for the Gracemere Bulls, hit 173 off 240 balls for Central Queensland in October; and then hit an unbeaten 216 to seal victory for North Queensland over his old team of South Queensland in Mackay in November.

The performances ensured Eden a spot in the Queensland Country Brahmans.

The Brahmans will play at the Australia Country titles which will be held in Bendigo from January 5-12.

The six-team competition also includes Western Australia, NSW, South Australia, Victoria and an ICC team representing the East Asia Pacific.

Teams will play two-day, one-day and T20 matches.
