Federal Member for Flynn, Ken O’Dowd, has been appointed chairman of the Joint Select Committee on Trade and Investment Growth.
The committee was established to inquire Australia’s trade and investment performance.
“This committee will have a vital role to play in developing policy and identifying barriers to trade and investment growth,” Mr O’Dowd said.
“The issues that we will look at are very relevant to industry, jobs and prosperity in Flynn and across the whole country.
“The week before last, I returned from a two-week trip to Japan and Korea where I saw first-hand the many opportunities for trade and investment in our region.
“Improving our productivity and efficiency are essential for business and industry to be able to capitalise on the opportunities provided by recently signed free trade agreements with China, Japan and Korea.
“Business, industry and workers will all have to work hard to remain competitive in a highly contested international market.”
