UnitingCare is hoping Christmas shoppers in Kingaroy will help them spread a little bit of festive cheer this year to local families who are doing it tough.
Target Country in Kingaroy has joined with UnitingCare to support the annual Giving Box appeal (formerly known as Operation Santa).
“There are many families in our community who are going to find it really tough to provide gifts for their children this year,” local UnitingCare co-ordinator Susan Mortimer said.
“We rely on fellow locals to dig deep, so please support our appeal at Target Kingaroy.
“We make sure that all donated gifts go to local families.”
This is the 23rd year the appeal has been run across Australia by Target – and the fifth year it has run in Kingaroy.
There is a large Giving Box located in the Target Country store in Avoca Street, Kingaroy.
Shoppers can place unwrapped gifts inside or take a tag and make a donation at the cash register.
UnitingCare volunteers will collect the gifts and make sure they are distributed to those most in need in time for Christmas morning.
Over the past two decades, more than 1.8 million gifts have been donated at Target stores across Australia.
This year, UnitingCare and Target are hoping to collect and distribute 100,000 gifts and $200,000 worth of gift cards across Australia which will assist 60,000 families.
