Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has advised that a local fire ban affecting the South Burnett will cease at midnight tonight (November 18).
The ban was imposed in the South Burnett, North Burnett, Cherbourg, Gympie and Toowoomba council areas as well as other parts of south-east Queensland.
QFES Acting Commissioner Mark Roche said severe fire conditions had now eased.
“Thankfully the worst of the fire conditions has passed for now and the fire bans will not be extended,” Mr Roche said.
“Those residents wishing to light a fire larger than two metres in any direction can now apply for a permit, as they would normally, via their local Fire Warden.”
