A fire in a stolen car sparked a grassfire on the Nanango-Brooklands Road at Brooklands yesterday evening.
Urban and rural fire crews were called to the scene about 7:45pm to extinguish a grassfire which spread into nearby bushland.
Nanango Officer-in-Charge Sergeant Jason Newton said the Mazda had been stolen earlier in the day from a house in Lee Court, Nanango.
The thieves also broke into the house and stole property, and caused a significant amount of damage by leaving taps running.
The running water also damaged electrical items in the home.
Sgt Newton said detectives from Kingaroy CIB have examined the scene and investigations were continuing.
At 11:20am today, firefighters were called back to Nanango-Brooklands Road when the initial fire reignited.
Five units were called back to extinguish the blaze.
