Police believe thieves who broke into a room at Kingaroy State High School on Friday night were after food.
Acting Senior Sergeant Brad Johannesen, from Kingaroy Police, said the thieves broke into a cold room near the dining area in N Block.
At this stage, police are unsure if anything was actually taken.
“They were obviously after food,” Acting Snr Sgt Johannesen said.
“However that is no excuse for breaking-in. There are charity groups and organisations where they can get assistance if they are desperate for food.”
The thieves entered the building by removing a shutter and unlocking a door. They broke a padlock off the cold room.

Acting Snr Sgt Johannesen said Kingaroy police were concerned about the amount of wilful damages reports they were receiving, particularly about incidents in public places.
They included graffiti and street signs being damaged.
Police also believed many other incidents were simply fixed and not reported to police.
“We need help from the public,” Acting Snr Sgt Johannesen said.
“We need people to ring us straight away if they see something.”
