More than 200 families around the electorate of Nanango have received “Get Started” vouchers to help their children join a sport or recreation club.
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the vouchers, worth up to $150 each, provide an opportunity for youngsters to join a sport or recreation club.
“The latest round of the Get Started program will help more than 13,500 children and young people around the State,” Mrs Frecklington said.
“It is particularly pleasing that this latest round has seen 202 vouchers issued in Nanango. In fact, more than 38 per cent of applicants who received a voucher said they had not played club sport previously, which is exactly what we’re trying to achieve through this program … to increase participation.”
Successful applicants must ensure vouchers are redeemed at a Get Started-registered club by November 15. Registered clubs must redeem the vouchers by November 30.
Round 5 of the program will open in February.
