The Federal Government has announced the geographic boundaries for the new Primary Health Networks which will be set up in July next year following the axing of funding for the Medicare Local network.

The new Darling Downs and West Moreton Primary Health Network will include Toowoomba, Ipswich, Dalby, Goondiwindi, Kingaroy, Miles, and Warwick.

This region is currently covered by the Darling Downs South West Queensland Medicare Local (DDSWQML) and the West Moreton-Oxley Medicare Local (WMOML).

The Western Queensland Primary Health Network will include Charleville, Cunnamulla, Longreach, Mt Isa, Roma, St George and Quilpie. This region is currently covered by DDSWQML and Central North West Queensland Medicare Local (CNWQML).

The new PHNs are being established following the release of the Horvath Report commissioned by the Federal Government.
