The organisers of the 2015 South Burnett Wine and Food in the Park Festival in Kingaroy are looking for local food producers who would be interested in having their produce available for sale on the day.

Committee chairman Darren Schmidt said the festival was keen to promote the “food” side of the festival, especially the role local food plays in the local economy and culture.

“There have been some notable initiatives in the South Burnett in the past few years that have thrown the spotlight on local food, and the Festival committee wants to consolidate that in every way possible,” Darren said.

“Whether we run a farmers’ market, a demonstration, or a sample station we don’t know yet. But we are very enthusiastic about getting more local food front and centre and under the noses of the thousands of people who enjoy the festival each year.

“Preferably, we want raw or preserved produce with an identifiable South Burnett provenance but we’re happy to consider any ideas that local food producers have. The more diverse the better.”

Wine and Food in the Park is always held on the second weekend in March.
