John Box, from Kingaroy, was named the 2014 South Burnett Citizen of the Year

The South Burnett Regional Council is calling for nominations the region’s annual Australia Day Awards.

The awards provide the community with an opportunity to acknowledge and reward outstanding groups and individuals committed to improving the lifestyle experienced in our region.

The award categories have been chosen give individual communities an equal opportunity to nominate those who have made special contributions to their local community.

The 2015 award categories are:

  • South Burnett Citizen of the Year
  • South Burnett Young Citizen of the Year
  • South Burnett Lifetime Achievement
  • South Burnett Sportsperson of the Year
  • South Burnett Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • South Burnett Sportsperson of the Year (Coach/Official Administrator)
  • South Burnett Volunteer of the Year
  • South Burnett Cultural Award (Senior)
  • South Burnett Cultural Award (Junior)
  • South Burnett Community Organisation of the Year
  • Local Achievement Award (Town & Rural)

The regional awards ceremony will be held on January 25 (the eve of Australia Day) at the Kingaroy Town Hall.
