Minnie and Mickey Mouse were helping Leisa Dugdell and the rest of the team with their Relay For Life fundraiser

October 3, 2014

There was a riot of fun in Kingaroy’s Memorial Park on Thursday … especially for fans of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Local business Funky Fairy Floss sponsored the family fun day, dubbed “Riot In The Park”, to help the Ride For Life team raise funds for Relay For Life.

Team member Leisa Dugdell said the nine members of the group had been busy raising funds through various activities, including a car wash and lolly guessing competition, but the fun day was going to the main effort.

“We’re hoping to get about $1000 today,” she said.

There was a jumping castle, sumo suit wrestling, games, a sausage sizzle, snow cones and fairy floss … but the big stars were Mickey and Minnie Mouse who were quickly swamped by young fans when they arrived.

The 9th annual South Burnett Relay For Life, to raise money for the Cancer Council, will be held at the Kingaroy Showgrounds on October 11-12.

Enjoying the jumping castle were Jamychal, 2, and Opal Smallwood, 4; and Lamisha Williams, 2; from Kingaroy

Elizabeth Holmes, 4, from Kingaroy, was feeling starstruck to meet the famous Mickey and Minnie Mouse

Having fun in the park were Layla Turner, 2, Monica Varga, 5, and Mikka Skingle, 9, with nanna Margaret McQuarrie, from Ballogie
