Moreton Resources has responded to reported comments by Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney about its coal asset near Coolabunia in a statement lodged today with the ASX.
Moreton CEO Jason Elks said no application for development of a mine has been filed by the company for consideration by the Minister or his Department.
“Accordingly, the company is not aware of any basis for the making of any pre-determination (as per the comments attributed to the Honourable Deputy Premier …) in the absence of a submission and due consideration of a detailed and complete application for a mine development,” Mr Elks said.
“It is the company’s intention to follow due process.”
Mr Elks said Moreton would continue to “progress” the asset through “a prudent, staged orderly process”.
“Whilst, to date, we continue to be encouraged by our results, we are aware of the considerable technical, legislative and social matters that need to be addressed prior to any such application for development,” he said.
“The company is at the very early stages of these processes and will keep the market informed regarding any material developments.”
