A short, sharp storm this afternoon dumped hail on parts of Nanango but offered little relief to South Burnett farmers desperately looking for rain.
A “mini-tornado” sliced a narrow strip of damage just north of the town, bringing down trees and branches near Tipperary Flat.
There were reports of a least one house damaged by a falling tree.
The heavy hail was accompanied by some rain, with 22mm falling in parts of Nanango.
Heavy rain also fell for a short time in the Maidenwell and Tarong areas.
In Kingaroy, high winds knocked branches from trees and brought a premature end to the day’s flying at the Outback Challenge UAV competition at Kingaroy Airport however little, if any, rain fell.
In other parts of the South Burnett, only very light rain fell in a couple of areas with most missing out completely.
