Kingaroy news:
Kingaroy’s Ladies Carnival was held last weekend, and it attracted a number of Australia’s best lady bowlers, including former world Fours Champion and Commonwealth Games representative Julie Keegan.
Teams from throughout Queensland also took part in the competition, which was played under sunny blue skies.
The 22 teams were comprised of four players apiece and they played five games of 18 ends, with three games on Saturday and two on Sunday.
The winners were determined by the amount of games won together with the number of ends won.
The competition was of the highest quality, as would be expected from the players taking part, and the four teams who were representing Kingaroy played well and finished in the top half of the field without getting into the major prize money.
The results:
- Winners: Kawana 1 – Fay Whittaker, Thelma Sanday, Noelene Dutton, Julie Keegan – 5 wins 61 ends
- Runners Up: Kawana 2 – Marion Hewish, Faye Clarke, Monika Duff, Jane Bush – 5 Wins 53 1/2 ends
- Third: Murgon/Kandanga – Shirley Noyes, Janelle Walker, Carol Watters, Cheryl Lorkin – 4 Wins 57 ends
- Fourth: Mooloolaba – Desley Williams, Judy Murray, Margaret O’Rourke, Mary Geary – 3 Wins, 2 draws 55 1/2 ends.
