St Mary’s Catholic College handed out its “Benedictine Awards” to students during a special assembly at the school to mark the end of Term 3 this afternoon.
The Benedictine Awards are not academic rewards; they recognise the five Benedictine values celebrated at Saint Mary’s ie. Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be Just and Be Your Best.
Awards were presented to:
- Prep – Amelia Broderick and Simon Laherty
- Year 1 – Hamish Mungall and Josie Perrett
- Year 2 – Bridget Trebbin and Bayli Cridge
- Year 3 – Mercedes Mi Mi and Angus McDonald
- Year 4 – Austin kelly and Kailtin Ritchie
- Year 5 – Ivan Brown and Jolleen Walker
- Year 5/6 – Elke Frecklington and Julian Seng
- Year 6 – Anh Truong and Sara Woodside
- Year 7 – Madison Crane and Baxter Armstrong
- Year 8A – Anquon Sandow & Rochelle Saltner
- Year 8B – Bridget McDonald and Aiden Raabe
- Year 9A – Georgia Reeve and Joshua Soley
- Year 9B – Nathan Brandon and Mikaila Schloss
- Year 9C – Ben Green and Jasmine Davis
- Year 10A – Brayden Merton and Jackson Lucas
- Year 10B – Monice Hurlbutt and Caylan Brown
- Year 11 – Sam Vinci and Richelle Bethke
- Year 12 – Thilini Ranasinghe and Nakita McGregor
Three St Mary’s Catholic College staff members were also presented with certificates … for clocking up 20 years with Catholic Education.
Principal Michael Nayler presented certificates to Deputy Principal Sean Erwin, APRE Marty Perrett and Campus Minister Neil Hutton.
Students Clare Adcock (800m, 1500m and 3000m) and Renee Irvine (discus) were congratulated for being selected to represent Wide Bay in athletics.
Year 10 student Jayde Novak was also congratulated for her equestrian achievements.
Jayde, 16, will be heading to Melbourne in a few days with her horse “Fletcher Jones” to compete in dressage at the 2014 Interschool National Championships.
This is the first time Jayde has competed at this level, but she hopes it won’t be her last.
Jayde’s ambition is to one day represent Australia at the Olympics.
