South Burnett bush balladeer Dean Perrett at the Nanango Muster … back for more this year

September 12, 2014

With more than 750 caravans already in place – and more expected over the next two days – Nanango’s biggest weekend of the year is officially underway.

The four-day Heritage Nanango Country Music Muster is a highlight on the “grey nomad” circuit and attracts literally thousands of people every year to Nanango Showgrounds to enjoy a mix of country and gospel music and bush poetry.

The South Burnett’s own Dean Perrett is one of the headline acts this year.

Dean’s duet with Troy Casser-Daly, “My Country, My Land”, is currently riding high on Australian country music charts and was a finalist in the Australian Independent Country Music Awards for Heritage Song of the year.

Other artists to appear on stage include Col Hardy, Graham Rodger, Bec Hance and Brian Letton.

Profits from the Muster are ploughed back into upgrading the Nanango Showgrounds as well as helping local organisations.

Last year donations were made to the Nanango State School, the Nanango State High School, Coolabunia State School, Nanango & District Kindergarten and the RACQ CareFlight helicopter rescue service.
