A 25-year-old man who pleaded guilty to contravening a domestic violence order after he threw a woman to the ground and put his hands around her throat as if to choke her, was sentenced to six months jail in Kingaroy Magistrates Court today.
The court was told that Joshua Wayne Bell was intoxicated when he went to the woman’s house on August 6, but she let him in.
Police Prosecutor Sgt Pepe Gangemi said Bell had previous DVO breaches on his record.
Magistrate Simon Young said the maximum penalty for the offence was three years jail.
He ordered the 37 days that Bell had been held in custody be treated as time served and fixed a parole release date of October 3.
A conviction was recorded.
