South Burnett councillor Damien Tessmann has been elected vice-president of the Federal Young Nationals after defeating two other candidates in a ballot at the annual general meeting of the Federal Executive held in Canberra today.

Cr Tessmann was formerly Federal Secretary, a role he has held for the past three years.

He is also a former president of the Queensland branch of the Young Nationals.

Cr Tessmann told southburnett.com.au he hoped to be able to raise the profile of the Young Nationals with his new position as well as advocate policy.

He is also currently Wide Bay Regional Chairman of the LNP.

The new Young Nationals executive is:

  • President – Ruby Cameron (Vic)
  • Vice-President – Damien Tessmann (Qld)
  • Secretary – Jessica Pice Purnell (NSW)
  • Treasurer – Jack Piggott (Qld)
  • Policy – Lachlan Hunter (WA)
  • Campaign – Tom Aubert (NSW)
  • Publicity – Darcy Duncan (WA)
  • Social Media – Tom Lamond (WA)
Membership of the Young Nationals is open to people aged under 31.
