Blazer The Bear dropped into the South Burnett Child Care Centre in Kingaroy recently to talk about fire safety.

Blazer showed the children how to “stop, drop and roll” and demonstrated and “get down low and go, go, go!”

Rural Fire Brigade Education Officer Tracey Goldsmith spoke to the children about using a “big voice” if inside a house on fire and what number to call – Triple 000 – and how important it is for children to know their street name and number.

After the educational part of the session, all the children were also able to have a turn in using the fire hose which gave the plants a well-needed drink.

All children received an information booklet to be read at home and Blazer stickers.
