The South Burnett Saints were all over the under-manned Chinchilla Suns
The Saints dominated the ballet of the boot

August 4, 2014

The South Burnett Saints and the Chinchilla Suns have a lot in common … they both joined the Darling Downs AFL competition at the start of last year,  they both play predominantly in red strip – and on Saturday they even shared some players.

Two Saints’ players joined the undermanned Chinchilla side, but it wasn’t enough to stop the South Burnett’s winning streak.

The rampaging Saints, who are leading the Darling Downs AFL Division 2 competition, were unstoppable at home in Kingaroy, downing Chinchilla by more than 200 points.

This was their ninth straight victory.

And the margin could have been even greater if more of the kicks were on target … the final score was 33.28 (226) to 3.1 (19).

The competition newbies have now met four times over the past two years, each time playing for the Trevor Green Expansion Cup.

Saints have won each encounter, although it must be admitted that their first match-up – in June last year – resulted in a slim one-point victory.

How things have changed in 2014!

Brad Edwards and Adam Bowater again dominated in front of the goals on Saturday, with Edwards booting home 12 goals and Bowater nine.

Other South Burnett goal kickers were  Ty Snow (3), Caylan Brown (2), Jack Day (2), Keiran Snow, Braeden Snow, Jordan Pressnell, Jeffrey Trezise and Daniel Clacy.

The Saints’ next scheduled game is against the Dalby Swans in Dalby on Saturday.
