A semi-trailer overturned on the D’Aguilar Highway this morning at Yarraman – the second major truck incident in the town in less than two months.
The latest incident occurred about 7:00am on the upper side of town, just near the Yarraman Police Station.
One lane of the highway was blocked for about three hours.
Senior-Constable Steve Crawford, from Yarraman Police, said the driver was heading eastwards down the hill when he apparently lost control.
The trailer tipped onto its side, losing its load, but the prime mover remained upright.
No one was injured.
Police are urging drivers to take care on the wet roads.
He said the New England Highway section in Yarraman was 50km/h but joined the D’Aguilar Highway which was 60km/h.
He fired off a letter to Transport Minister Scott Emerson this morning after the latest incident:
“Please see reason and change the limit on the D’Aguilar Highway to 50km/h through town to prevent loss of life!” he wrote.
“The Yarraman community request that you attend to this as a matter of urgency.”
