Federal Member for Flynn Ken O’Dowd has advised that he has secured $4000 funding for Wondai RSL to ensure Year 9 students in his electorate can take part in a special World War I publishing project.

The announcement today means all three Federal electorates that dissect the South Burnett have now contributed funding towards the project.

The biographical book will recognise the service and sacrifice of local residents who served during the Great War. It is being prepared by Year 9 students from throughout South Burnett.

“This project is one that I consider to be worthy of support and I am happy to make this money available through the committee which is organising the 2015 Anzac Troop Train re-enactment from Winton to Brisbane the week before ANZAC Day 2015,” Mr O’Dowd said.

“The committee is working with Neil Burrows from Wondai RSL to ensure further involvement involving school children from this area in the movements of the Troop Train.”

The $4000 funding will be provided in late August to the Wondai RSL who will pass the money to the South Burnett Regional Council which is organising the project.

Cr Ros Heit, who is overseeing the project, welcomed the news.
