The prestigious XXXX Gold/Carrollee Hotel Nanango Cup will be just one of the highlights at Saturday’s Nanango Races.
As well as a six-race card there’ll be a special blessing of the jockeys ceremony to mark the start of a new racing year in the region, and the presentation of the Nanango Race Club’s Premiership Awards to last season’s leading jockey, trainer and horse.
There’ll also be the sashing of the new Race Club Ambassador for 2014-15, and the rugging of the winner of this year’s XXXX Gold/Carrollee Hotel Nanango Cup.
The Nanango Cup is one of the South Burnett’s biggest race meetings of the year. Total prize money for the event is $50,000.
This year’s theme is “Classic Black and White” and patrons who dress to it can take part in the hotly contested Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field competition to win great prizes.
Buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy’s Carrollee Hotel at noon; the Glendon Street Bus Depot at 12:15pm, and the Nanango RSL at 12:30pm.
Gates will open at 10:00am and the first race will leave the barriers at 1:15pm.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under-15s are free).
