Gosh, it’s been a bit chilly lately, hasn’t it?

I haven’t had a report from any of the green keepers, though, so I hope all our region’s greens have weathered the latest cold snap.

Anyway, Binjour is heading the bulletin this week.

So let’s get in amongst it.

Binjour news:

It was Lady President Leann Pace’s Day at Binjour last Thursday, and the morning temperature was minus three degrees.

But that didn’t stop visitors, who made a big roll-up.

Teams came from Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy, Wondai, Murgon, Tansey, Gayndah, Mundubbera and Monto.

This produced a full green of 64 players, including 21 locals.

A couple even came from Calliope – Brian and Faye Ford.

It was a fun day, with teams were drawn out of the hat.

The lucky winning team with the largest winning margin was Skip Daph Stewart, 3rd Kelvin Wiley, 2nd Greg Thompson and Lead Jenny Roach with a score 26-15

Runners up with the smallest winning margin was Skip Brittany Wiley, 3rd Arnie Williams, 2nd Sandra Stott and Lead Kay Dugdell with a score of 18-16.

And the Sportsman prize (for the lowest score) went to Skip Phyl Williams, 3rd Brian Prygoda, 2nd Jocelyn Humphries and Lead Athol Jensen.

Esk news:

Its time we caught up with Esk’s news – they’ve had a busy couple of weeks.

First up, their recent Pub Day brought a lot of regulars to this popular event:

  • First Round winners: Bill Percy’s team from Gatton;
  • Second Round winners: Allan Wieland’s team from Lowood
  • Runner-Up on the day: Geoff Spann’s team
  • Overall winners on the day: Arthur Simpson’s team from North Ipswich.

It is not the first time that Arthur has taken off this trophy.

The next round of the social round robin will be held at Mt Crosby Bowls Club on Sunday 20th July.

Noela and John Blank’s Sponsors Day brought players from Mermaid Waters, Rathdowney, Gatton, Durack/Inala and Urangan.

There were two rounds, and in Round two the Round One winners played winners and losers played losers, with the overall winners were determined by a secret margin in Round Two.

The winners of the losers with a mystery margin closest to -6 were Gerrit (Esk) and Veronica (Mermaid Beach); while the winners of the winners were Peter (Durack Inala) and Kevin (Urangan) with 2 wins and a margin closest to 11.

And Esk are now off to Laidley on Tuesday.
