Planning has started already for this year’s Salvation Army Christmas Lunch – which will be held on Christmas Day at the SB Care Centre in Kingaroy – but organisers are missing one major ingredient.
A chef.
Unfortunately, the chef who has donated his time so generously for the past three years is not available to cook the 2014 lunch so organisers have begun looking for a replacement.
There is a team of volunteers available to do the shopping, prepare the vegies, plate up and distribute the food.
“We just need someone who can take charge of the kitchen and look after the actual food preparation,” organising committee member Nina Temperton said.
The menu is usually a two-course hot lunch of roast beef, turkey, ham and roast vegetables.
A dessert is also plated up by volunteers which includes plum pudding / Christmas cake, trifle, custard and ice-cream.
Meals will be prepared for 120 diners plus volunteers (if they want to eat).
Much of the preparation work for the lunch is usually completed on the day before, December 24, however the chef will also have to be available on Christmas Day itself.
Anyone who could help, is asked to contact Nina Temperton at South Burnett CTC on (07) 4162-9000 or Kylie Birch at the Salvation Army on (07) 4162-5246.
