Reconstruction works on the Wide Bay Highway between Goomeri and Craigallian will begin on Monday (July 7), Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss announced today.
Mr Truss said the Federal Government would be providing more than $1.7 million in funding for further road reconstruction works in the Kilkivan area, to repair damage sustained during the 2013 floods.
“The road works will be carried out in several sections and should be completed by late August, weather permitting,” Mr Truss said.
“The work will include a new pavement overlay, stabilisation of the existing road surface and drainage works, resulting in a higher quality road surface and a safer drive for road users.
“There may be some lane closures and speed restrictions on the roads undergoing work, however I would ask motorists to exercise patience and caution so that the road works may be carried out quickly and safely.”
The work is being undertaken under Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements, Mr Truss said.
