The Kingaroy State High School Concert Band is one of only 11 bands from across Queensland that have been invited to take part in the Fanfare 2014 State Festival in Brisbane.
The students will compete under the direction of conductor Matthew Phillips.
They were selected after coming out on top at the Darling Downs South West regional Fanfare event in Toowoomba last month.
The Kingaroy students will play in the Plaza Ballroom at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 6.
The top five bands will then be invited to take part in the Fanfare Grand Final Concert on August 8 in the Great Hall at the Convention Centre.
The winner from this event will be awarded the Erica Brindley Memorial trophy.
Tickets for the Fanfare Grand Final Concert are on sale through Ticketek
Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said the 11 finalists were selected from the 833 groups that took part in 48 regional festivals held throughout the State in May and June.
“Around 22,200 students from 400 schools participated and I congratulate every one of these students, their teachers and families for being involved,” he said.
Fanfare is again being run as a joint private-public partnership this year, with support from international venue management group, AEG Ogden.
