South Burnett Saints’ winning streak continued on Saturday in Kingaroy, holding on against Highfields despite a fightback by the visitors in the last quarter.

Saints finished ahead 13.15 (93) to 10.11 (71).

They held Highfields scoreless in Quarter 1 and romped away to a 35 point lead at half-time. But after the break, South Burnett let Highfields back into the game.

In the last quarter, the visitors kicked five goals to outpoint the Saints for the quarter.

Saints’ goal kicks for the day came from  Keiran Snow (3), Thomas Fowler (3), Ty Snow (2), Adam Bowater (2), Adam Branch, Braeden Snow and Paul Pressnell.

This is the South Burnett team’s sixth consecutive win in the Darling Downs B Grade Australian Rules competition.

In fact, after 12 rounds they’ve lost just one game, a nailbiter against Coolaroo in Round 4 when they were beaten by three points.

The Saints are sitting in second spot on the ladder, just two points behind the undefeated University.

A top-of-the-table clash between these two sides will take place at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy from 2:30pm on Sunday, July 6 – the Saints’ next game due to the school holidays.
