The big event this part week was the Burnett District Ladies Singles competition held at Kingaroy last weekend.

Twelve ladies competed in the A Grade and 16 in the B Grade.

Most clubs were represented over the weekend, and each player played three games with their combined individual scores counting towards their overall score.

The top four players in both sections then went into the Semi Finals, and the the winners of the semis on to the Final.

Here’s the results:

A Grade:

  • Carol Watters. Murgon – 63 points
  • Dianne Reed, Kingaroy – 62 points
  • Bronwyn Grant, Kingaroy – 60 points
  • Maureen Semgreen – 58 points

Semi-Finals:

  • Bronwyn Grant def. Carol Watters 25-24
  • Diane Reed def. Maureen Semgreen 25-15

In the Open Finals, Bronwyn Grant def. Diane Reed 25-20; and in the 3rd Place Playoff, Maureen Semgreen def. Carol Watters 25-18

B Grade:

  • Brittney Wiley. Binjour – 63 points
  • Kay Dugdell. Yarraman – 63 points
  • Sylvia Hiltunen, Murgon – 63 points
  • Daphne Stewart, Yarraman – 58 points

Semi-Finals:

  • Brittney Wiley def. Sylvia Hiltunen 25-8
  • Daphne Stewart def. Kay Dugdell 25-12

In the B Grade Finals, Brittney Wiley def. Daphne Stewart 25-15; and in the 3rd Place Playoff, Kay Dugdell def. Sylvia Hiltunen 25-4.

On Sunday, in Triples:

  • Col McBride, Lindy Clutterbuck and Malcolm MacLeod def. Marj Moore, Beryl Woods and Alan Rogerson 23-20
  • Jim Nicholson, Maureen Semgreen and Ray Maclaren def. Peggy Robinson, Geoff Clutterbuck and Dave Clapperton 27-11
  • Dave Woods, Graham Heaton and Bruce Johnston def. Robbie Johnson, Eric Ford and Kev Raffin 17-16

And in Thursday’s Triples, twelve teams played two games of 12 ends, with the winners being determined by the number of games won and the combined margins of the two games:

  • Winners: Darcy Munro, John Muller and Alan Rogerson – 2 wins plus margin 20
  • Runners Up: Robbie Johnson, Irene Smith and Bruce Johnston – 2 wins plus margin 18
  • Third: Des Richards, Lyle Dascombe and Kev Raffin – 2 Wins plus margin 11

Yarraman news:

Yarraman had a big fundraising day last Sunday, with 64 players on the green playing 1 game of 16 ends.

Winners were drawn from the cards (which is pretty fair on a fundraising social day, I think)

The winners were Brian Dugdell, Corey Stenzil, Margaret Briggs and Margaret Willoughby; and the winners of the losing teams were Tim Stevenson, Horst Myer, Ian Johnston and Chris MacLeod.
