St Mary’s Catholic College students gathered this afternoon at a special end-of-term assembly in Kingaroy to mark some special moments at the school.

The students farewelled teacher Jenny Cross who is heading into retirement after 47 years as a teacher in the South Burnett. She was presented with a special hand-made book of memories.

They also congratulated “lollipop lady” Yvonne Dowling for 13 years service as part of celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of the School Crossing Supervisor Scheme in Queensland.

The assembly also recognised the school’s netball team which will be competing at the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN) carnival at Runaway Bay during the first week of the school holidays, and Frank McGregor who will be playing in the Confraternity Rugby League shield with the Xavier College (Hervey Bay) team.

Principal Michael Nayler also distributed the Benedictine awards for Term 2.  The awards are not academic rewards; they recognise the five Benedictine values celebrated at Saint Mary’s ie. Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be Just and Be Your Best.
