A team of 13 police from various South Burnett stations patrolled Cherbourg on Saturday night in a special exercise designed to target anti-social behaviour.
Sgt Scott Prendergast, from Cherbourg police, said operations like this occurred from time to time in various towns, but this was the first time in recent years that it had been done at Cherbourg.
“Police in general were happy with the standard set in the community although two arrests were made – a juvenile male and an adult female,” he said.
“This operation was aimed at ensuring the residents of Cherbourg can enjoy a safe and peaceful community.”
Sgt Prendergast briefed Cherbourg councillors on the police operation today.
