The results of an Aboriginal art and culture project at Tingoora State School were officially unveiled this afternoon.

The school received $5000 from the Aboriginal Community Interest Consultative Committee (ACICC) earlier this year to develop art projects to help “Close The Gap” between indigenous and non-indigenous students.

The projects included individual art pieces crafted by students as well as two major works, a mosaic – created by artist Sandy Cochrane – and a mural painted by staff and students.

The students also had the opportunity to visit The Ration Shed museum at Cherbourg to learn more about Aboriginal history.

Teacher aide Jenny Miller and Year 2 students Nichilas Clancy, Cameron Garland and Kobi Morgan … students and staff worked on the new mural
